This is my favorite design, and before explaining why is this my favorite logo design, I would like to simply introduce a little bit about it.

This logo is designed by a Taiwan Designer named Kyo. And it is designed to support the protest currently happening in Hong Kong. The word on the left means 'Hong Kong' and the one on the right side means 'add oil'. And this 'Hong Kong add oil!' slogan has been used by protestors ever since this March 2019 which means a lot to this protest.

What I like about it, it's that this is an Ambigram. Most importantly it is a Chinese ambigram. In my opinion, traditional Chinese characters are all very unique in shape which makes them very hard to form ambigram. How he made it really surprised me.

Besides, the font he used is a really good typographic element to show the kind of courage and determination the protestors have.

The third reason is not really related to the design itself but the designer. As I mentioned, this design is designated for supporting the Hong Kong protestors, and protestors make a lot of propaganda to spread messages. This designer allowed everyone to use his design for free. How generous he is, makes me love his design more.

From this design, not only was I amazed by the artistic aspect but it also reminds me of what design is for. Design is not simply artworks but to help to solve problems and to help people. Just like what Amy J. Ko, before getting into this course I always thought that design is all about colors, fonts, layout, and other low-level visual details. But in fact, quoting from Amy J. Ko 'Design was where ideas came from. It was processed for generating ideas. It was a method for evaluating ideas. It was a way of communicating ideas. I learned that design was problem-solving.' Design is so much more than just drawings and everything that we can get in touch with every day is related to design.
