What can Unity 3D do?

Writer's picture: tmak685tmak685

In this second week, we were introduced to an app named Unity 3D which can help us create AR experiences and even make our own game. It was quite hard to follow during the lesson but I would definitely love to dig deeper into Unity 3D in the future.

What kinds of work did people produced through Unity?

In order to know more about Unity and how it works, I searched online for some works people did through using Unity. I realized that some of the games me and my friends have been playing are games made in Unity, this stuns me! Knowing that I might one day have the opportunity to make such fantastic games really draws me to know more about Unity.

Let me introduce 2 games that I found.

1. Hearthstone

According to the official site of Unity 3D, 'When creating this game, the team at Blizzard didn’t have as much time to go through its traditional iteration cycles, and they relied heavily on Unity. The engine allowed them to identify bugs and make the right tweaks, and it also helped the team learn faster about improving their game.' This proves how convenient Unity is and how much help it can provide to game developers.

Hearthstone is a digital collectible card game that can be get access to online for free. The reason that they picked Unity as the game engine is because it runs faster and smoother, it can also make sure that the experience is great on all the platforms.

2. Cities: Skylines

Cities Skylines is a city-building game developed by Colossal Order and published by Paradox Interactive. Referring to the official site of Unity 3D, ‘the team at Colossal Order turned to Unity because of the engine flexibility and the powerful framework to build upon. There are no restrictions for players, they can place structures and there are tools for every job and purpose. Even more, players can bring their own objects into the gameworld.’

Me thoughts:

I'm amazed by how many amazing works can Unity produce. These games as I know are popular games that many people love. Although I'm currently still learning about how to insert 3D objects and and how to get it move, but I'm sure with the help of teachers and friends and the amount of effort that I might pay in the future, I will be able to make my own game!!
